Measurement guide

Ten minutes with a soft tape measure is all it takes. Measure over light clothing, keep the tape snug but not tight, and ask someone to help with the back measurements. If in doubt, round up — a kemis can always be taken in.

What you need

You'll need: a soft tape measure (or a string and a ruler), a mirror, and ideally a helper.

Enter your numbers in centimetres or inches — the builder accepts either. Save them once in your account and every order uses them.

Where to measure

1
Bust

Around the fullest part of the bust, tape level all the way round, arms relaxed at your sides.

Tip: Wear the bra you'll wear with the dress.

2
Waist

Around your natural waist — the narrowest point, usually just above the navel. Don't pull in.

3
Hips

Around the fullest part of the hips and seat, feet together.

4
Shoulder

Across the back, from the edge of one shoulder to the other, where a sleeve seam would sit.

5
Sleeve

From the shoulder edge down the outside of a slightly bent arm to where you want the cuff — wrist for a kemis, elbow for a short sleeve.

6
Length

From the top of the shoulder (next to the neck) straight down the front to where you want the hem — floor-length for a kemis is usually 2 cm above the floor in the shoes you'll wear.

Tip: Stand straight, look ahead, shoes on.

7
Neck

Around the base of the neck where a collar sits, one finger inside the tape.

8
Inseam

From the crotch seam straight down the inside of the leg to the ankle bone.

9
Height

Standing barefoot against a wall, head to floor.
